The Opportunity

We are partnering with an established New York City-based heavy civil contractor looking to hire an experienced Project Manager to deliver major infrastructure projects across the MTA and Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) networks.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing contractor with a strong presence in New York's public infrastructure market, working on complex, high-profile transit projects that keep the city moving.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction, rail infrastructure, and public agency projects, with the ability to manage challenging construction schedules, multiple stakeholders, and projects in active transit environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage heavy civil and transit infrastructure projects from preconstruction through final completion.
  • Oversee construction activities on MTA and LIRR projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest safety standards.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, field supervision, engineers, and project stakeholders throughout construction.
  • Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, procurement, scheduling, change orders, and contract administration.
  • Liaise directly with public agencies, including the MTA, LIRR, and their representatives.
  • Oversee work involving structural concrete, excavation, foundations, rail infrastructure, station improvements, and associated civil works.
  • Coordinate construction activities around active rail operations, restricted access, track outages, and demanding project schedules.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges, contractual issues, and potential project delays.
  • Ensure compliance with agency specifications, safety regulations, quality standards, and contractual requirements.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager within heavy civil, infrastructure, or rail/transit construction.
  • Experience delivering projects for the MTA, LIRR, NYC Transit, Metro-North, or similar public transportation agencies is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of structural concrete, excavation, foundations, and complex civil construction.
  • Experience managing public works contracts, subcontractors, project budgets, and construction schedules.
  • Familiarity with MTA/LIRR construction procedures, safety requirements, and working in live transit environments.
  • Strong commercial understanding, including change order management, cost controls, and contract administration.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment with demanding project deadlines.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Work on major MTA and LIRR infrastructure projects across New York City and the surrounding region.
  • Join an established contractor with a strong reputation in the heavy civil and public infrastructure sector.
  • Take ownership of technically challenging projects that have a direct impact on New York's transportation network.
  • Work closely with experienced construction professionals and public agency stakeholders.
  • Opportunity for long-term career progression as the company's infrastructure portfolio continues to develop.
